Connection and Comfort

You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or lonely as a parent. Maybe you feel isolated while caring for your baby, or don’t have the support you thought you’d have from your friends, family, or partner. It might feel hard to be vulnerable and talk about what you're going through, so listening to others share their experiences can be really validating and healing.

Easily Accessible Information and Resources

Podcasts are an amazing free educational resource. By simply searching on an app you can access information from world renown experts, and listen to deep dives into topics and entertaining conversations on just about any subject you can imagine. There's a good chance that any parenting questions you have are addressed in the podcast world.

Self-Care

One of the biggest practical shifts in becoming a new parent is the lack of time for self-care. Feeding, napping, changing diapers, and just getting to know your new baby takes up huge amounts of both energy and time.

Podcasts offer a way to care for yourself without demanding a ton of those precious resources. Listening to a podcast on a walk, while driving to appointments, or as a wind down activity at the end of the day can provide some much needed time for yourself.

The Purpose of the Blooming in Motherhood Podcast

I started this podcast because this is what I was searching for in my own life. When I was pregnant with my first child, I devoured birth stories. I listened to every episode of The Birth Hour and maybe even a few episodes twice. The best podcasts to me at that time shared real, raw stories. I craved information and wanted to know about other people's experiences.

Postpartum podcast

Connection through Stories

As a new mom in the postpartum stage, I felt that same desire for information. I looked for information and assurance through stories about how other people managed the transition to motherhood. I wanted to ask every single mom that I saw, "how did you survive on no sleep?", "how did you feed your baby?", "how do you take care of your mental health?", "what was it like to go back to work?". And in these questions, I was really asking "am I doing this right? Is this normal? Am I the only one who feels this way?"

Sharing your story is so powerful and so is listening to someone else's story. Hearing other parents speak about their experience can help you reflect on your own and even gain new perspectives. I love learning from all these guests about their own person and unique situations and circumstances, and I know that even among our diverse experiences there is a lot of commonality.

What to Expect from this Podcast

Encouragement and support

In this podcast, I get to ask the question: β€œwhat was it like for you?”.

I have really loved talking with these women about this vulnerable, sacred time. Personally, I have always looked for stories of others to guide and inspire me in times of uncertainty and transitions in my life - my hope is that this podcast can serve as a source of hope, connection, and peace for new moms and new again moms who are in it. Encouragement and support are vital in early parenthood, when there are so many changes and challenges.

Connection and community with other moms

Early motherhood and the postpartum period can feel so isolating and overwhelming. Making mom friends when you have a brand new baby and are just trying to make it through the day can feel impossible at times.

I hope that you'll join us and as your listen you'll be able to see your story in these stories as well. Because you're not alone in all the ups and downs of motherhood.
